Three persons of a single family living with mental illness rescued from Chitwan


Ratnagar (Chitwan), Aug 17: Three persons of a single family with mental illness have been rescued from Chitwan.
The Manabsewa Ashram, Chitwan came to their help and rescued them following news report carried by the Rastriya Samachar Samiti (RSS) on the condition of those persons.
Bhim Prasad Bhattarai, 55, of Kholesimal at Kalika Municipality-7 in Chitwan, his two sons Dipak, 31, and Shankar, 26, all living with mental illness, were rescued in the presence of Chief District Officer, Local Development Officer Shrawan Kumar Pokharel, Police Chief Basanta Kunwar and coordinator of the Ashram Ramji Adhikari and parent Keshab Adhikari.
The Bhattarai father and sons had been deprived of treatment for long for want of money. Bhim Prasad is living with mental illness for the past 30 years while his sons have been suffering from it for the past over nine years.
Bhim Prasad’s wife Devi Maya is happy now after her mentally retarded husband and sons were rescued. “Earlier I had to tie them for their unusual activities due to their illness. Now I hope they will get proper treatment,” she said.
She said that around Rs 700,000 that she collected after selling off their farmland, have been spent in their treatment so far, but to no avail.
The Ashram coordinator Adhikari said that the Ashram has taken the responsibility to provide medical treatment for the Bhattarai father and sons, expressing hope that they would be cured after proper treatment. RSS
