Snakebite cases up


Kakarvitta (Jhapa), June 21: The cases of snakebite have gone up in Jhapa with the flow of snakebite patients increasing at the Charali-based Snakebite Treatment Centre.
Three to five patients on average come to the centre for treatment daily. The centre being operated with technical support from Nepal Army Kalibahadur Battalion treated 1,246 snakebite patients till the mid-June of the current fiscal year. Of them, 522 were women and 204 were children.
This number was 1,193 during last fiscal year.
Patients from Jhapa, Ilam and different Indian cities including Darjeeling, Naxalbari and Siliguri come to the centre, seeking treatment, centre chair Durga Bhattarai. RSS
