Setopul-Sinamangal road develops potholes and cracks one month after the construction

Kathmandu, July 17: The Setopul-Sinamangal road has developed potholes and cracks at various places in just one month after the road was blacktopped.
In an attempt to defend their sheer negligence, concerned authorities have started repair of the damaged road at a time when monsoon has caused the road muddy, troubling the pedestrians and vehicles to pass.
Local residents blamed the contractor for not using quality construction materials, thus damaging road. “The road has developed many potholes at various places. However, the Kathmandu Valley Road Expansion Project (KVREP), concerned authority in road construction in the valley, advocates in favour of the contractor, instead of investigating into the case and taking action against the guilty,” said local resident Ram Mani Neupane.
He said that the road was constructed at the cost of around Rs 85 million.
The road was constructed by Lama Builders, Biruwa Changmila JV, said the KVREP Chief Manoj Shrestha.
However, representatives of the contractor Badri Khadka and Tulasi Wagle declined to comment. RSS
