Parliament hearing committee to meet Monday

Kathmandu, June 19: The first meeting of the parliamentary hearing committee is to be held at the Speaker’s chamber on Monday morning.
Talking in brief to journalists after the Legislature-Parliament Regulations 2073 was endorsed today, Speaker Onsari Gharti expressed the confidence that the parliament proceedings would now move ahead effectively with the regulations in place.
Thanking political parties for the responsibility shown in endorsing the regulations, Speaker Gharti expressed the belief that the consensus and understanding would continue in the days ahead.
The regulations were approved after a nine-months-long effort, with most of the differences focusing around the number of members of the hearing committee. The formation of the 15-member committee now paves the way for hearing of the ambassadors and judges recommended for appointment.
The parliamentary hearing committee can reject any recommendation with a two-third majority. RSS
