NC still to hold convention in four districts


Kathmandu, June 30: Nearly three months after its 13th national congress, Nepali Congress, the largest party and the main opposition in the Legislature-Parliament, is still to hold its convention in four districts and an election constituency.
The party could not hold its district-level convention in seven districts in the run up to the national congress due to the internal dispute.
A meeting of the NC’s central election committee on June 4 issued a circular to the district committees of the party to hold the district-level convention latest by June 21. But the convention has yet to take place in four districts and an election constituency.
The convention has not been held in Siraha, Dhanusha, Mahottari, Parsa and Constituency-5 of Dhanusha. The districts where the convention has been recently held include Sindhupalchok, Bajhang and Kanchanpur where Bikas Lama, Harka Jung Bahadur Singh and Hari Prasad Bohara have respectively been elected the party’s district presidents.
