NC-close civil service employees nominate Devkota as General Secretary in official trade union


Kathmandu, June 12: Nepal Civil Service Employee’s Union (Organisation) has decided to send its President Subodh Kumar Devkota as the General Secretary of the official trade union of civil servants.
The nomination of Devkota was unanimous, according to Union central member Bishwa Bandhu Regmi. Names of other members to represent in the official trade union from the associations of civil servants following democratic thoughts will be finalised soon, as shared by Regmi.
It may be noted that in the elections for the official trade union held on June 1, Nepal Civil Service Employees Association close to the CPN (UML) won the majority of votes followed by the unions close to the Nepali Congress and CPN (Maoist Center), respectively.
As per the Civil Service Regulations, the union becoming the first in the elections will head the official trade union with getting the posts of vice chair, treasurer and eight members as well while post of General Secretary and seats for six members will be given to the union standing second and the union securing the third position will get the post of Secretary and seats for two members, according to the official trade union elections’ office Spokesperson Santosh Kumar Giri.
The office on June 6 dispatched a letter to the three unions of civil servants, urging to send the final names list of people to represent the respective bodies in the authentic trade union within the next 15 days. The official trade union of civil servants will have a 16-member central working committee and a six-member body in the district-levels, with a four-year term. RSS
