‘Madhes leaders hopeful of getting some demands addressed’


Kathmandu, Aug 7: Leaders of Madhes-centric parties are hopeful of getting their demands fulfilled with positive response to some of their agenda from the new government.
Talking to RSS, Sadbhawana Party Co Chair Laxman Lal Karna said the demands of Madesh are long ignored. But with the formation of the new government, we are hopeful that some of the demands will be addressed.
The new government formed under the leadership of CPN ( Maoist Center ) Chair Pushpa Kamal Dahal decided to immediately implement the previous government’s decision to provide Rs one million each to the families of those killed in the Madhes movement and bear the treatment expense of the injured. Likewise, the withdrawal of the case filed against those arrested in course of the Madhes agitation remains in the agenda of the incumbent government.
Lawmaker from the major ruling party CPN (Maoist Center) Kamala Dong said demands of Madhes expect the citizenship issue are genuine and they should be addressed.
Senior journalist Rajeshwor Nepali termed the problems of Madhes as ‘national agenda’, underlining the need of collective efforts to address them through a due process.
Political analyst and journalist Chandra Kishor Jha was of the view of addressing the Madhes issues on time.
The United Democratic Madhesi Front, an alliance of Madhes-based parties, are in the agitation for the past 10 months, expressing its discontent to some of the provisions of the new constitution. RSS
