Kathmandu, July 21: Rain occurred across the country today due to the presence of the monsoon line towards Nepal.

Meteorologist Meen Kumar Aryal told RSS that the precipitation throughout the country was due the effect of the concentration of the monsoon activity in the low pressure area.

“Monsoon line is the isobar covering the low pressure areas with developing rain. This has entered from the eastern side of Nepal. The change in weather is a result of the effect of the convergence in the low pressure belt of the moisture-laden winds coming from the Arabian Sea and the Bay of Bengal,” Aryal explained.

Heavy rain occurred especially in the central and eastern region and this trend will continue until the night today, it is stated. Comparatively, the western part of the country will receive less rainfall, the Weather Forecasting Division stated.

Weatherman Aryal said that the intermittent rain which has continued to occur over the last three or four days will remain for two or three days more.

Meteorologists have urged the general public to remain alert towards an upsurge of flood and landslide incidents in teh eastern region due to the incessant rains.

As per the Meteorological Forecasting Division, Simara received the highest rainfall of 160 millimetres while Okhaldhunga the lowest 0.2 millimetres.

Kathmandu received 12 millimetres, Biratnagar 73 millimetres, Dhankuta 11 millimetres, Pokhara 35 millimetres, Birendranagar 60 millimetres and Dhangadhi 14 millimetres rainfall today, it is learnt. RSS
