China congratulates Peru’s newly elected president

BEIJING, June 13 (Xinhua) — China on Monday extended congratulations to Peru’s newly-elected President Pedro Pablo Kuczynski.
“China values bilateral relations with Peru, and is ready to work with the country to enhance friendly exchanges and cooperation in all fields and push forward our comprehensive strategic partnership,” said Foreign Ministry spokesperson Lu Kang.
Calling Peru an important country in Latin America, Lu told a regular press briefing that relations between China and Peru have developed well since diplomatic relations were established 45 years ago.
The two countries have witnessed frequent high-level exchanges, successful cooperation in many fields, and good communication and coordination in international and regional affairs, Lu added.
Kuczynski, 77, of the Peruanos Por El Cambio Party, won the presidential election last Thursday.
