Babiyachaur (Myagdi), July 11: Electricity generation jammed at the Rum Khola Hydro Power Project at Niskot – 3 of Myagdi after floodwaters streamed inside.
The Project with a capacity of generating 51 megawatts of power remained dysfunctional after floodwaters entered from a road located above the power house and damaged equipments including twine runner.
A total of 700 households were affected after the hydro power project shutdown, Project’s Advisor Motiraj Gautam shared.
The locals of Niskot, Rum, Okharbote, Devisthan and Darwang VDCs had been using the electricity generated by the Rum Khola Project. The flooding has been attributed to the lack of proper management of sewerage and soil in course of the construction of the Darwang-Niskot road.
A team from Area Police Office, Darwang, Rum Khola Project officials and consumers worked all day on Sunday to get the water out, but power generation has continued to stall. RSS
