Chinese delegation calls on Defence Minister Rawal


Kathmandu, June 7:Visiting Chinese delegation led by Admiral Sun Jianguo of the Joint Staff Department of the Central Military Commission called on Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Defence Bhim Bahadur Rawal. The meeting was held on Monday.
On the occasion, Minister Rawal expressed his gratitude for China’s support to the Nepal’s new constitution.
Stating that Nepal is always committed to a one China policy and is happy over the progress achieved by its northern neighbour, the Deputy Prime Minister thanked the Chinese Government for its special help in Nepal’s post-earthquake rescue, search and relief efforts, the Ministry of Defence said in a press statement today.
During the meeting, Mr Admiral noted that Nepal remains China’s extremely good friend and termed Nepal- China relations as ‘historic’. He said China will always be in support of Nepal’s independence and independent decision.
He added that Nepal could benefit from the expansion of road, transportation and railway under the China’s ‘One Belt, One Road’ policy and that China remained eager to expand such support.
Speaking of the possibility of Chinese President Xi Jinping’s visit to Nepal in near future, Admiral took the occasion to extend an invitation to DPM Rawal for China visit. RSS
