Beni-Jomsom road obstructed

Babiyachaur (Myagdi), July 6: The Beni-Jomsom road that connects the mountainous district Mustang via Myagdi is obstructed since this morning.
Vehicular movement on the 76-kilometre road has been halted due to the blockade caused by a landslide at Ghangema of Ghansa-1 on the border between Muagdi and Mustang. Even people cannot traverse the road due to the huge mudslide that also washed away a section of the road, said Indra Singh Sherchan, an hotelier at Dana.
Vehicles heading towards Mustang from Beni have been stranded at Kabhre of Dana while those heading towards Beni from Jomsom are stranded at Ghansa.
Locals and the tourists coming for a visit to Muktinath and Mustang have been affected due to the road obstruction. The police, transport entrepreneurs and locals are working to clear the landslide debris by pressing a Department of Roads’ dozer into service.
Transport entrepreneurs have said arrangements have been made to operate transport using an alternative road. RSS
