20 Nawalparasi Muslims likely to miss Haj pilgrimage


Nawalparasi, Aug 15: As many as 20 people from the Muslim community in Nawalparasi district are likely to miss the Haj pilgrimage to Mecca and Medina, the Islam’s holiest sites in Saudi Arabia, this year.
Those Mulsim people from Nawalparasi, out of 22 districts in Tarai, have been deprived of going to Haj due to the negligence of government side.
A total of 20 people had submitted application along with Rs 185,000 at the District Administration Office on time but the office allegedly did not send the application to the bodies concerned on time, said District Chairman of the Muslim Association, Nawalparasi, Kasid Ali.
Ali said, “We are still waiting for the Haj quota. We will be compelled to launch stern agitation if we do not get the quota.”
As per the letter sent by the Haj Committee on January 18, the application should be sent within April 17, the District Administration Office had sent it only on May 12. RSS
